If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you will
know that the sultry look is my signature look and hardly ever wear eyeliner. I
just prefer the softer Smokey eye to a sophisticated winged liner, but I know
that lot of you are a lover of a Cat Eye. In all fairness it is not an easy
look to achieve, you need a steady hand to draw a straight line and also it
proves quite a challenge to get the wings equally on both sides, Don’t you just
hate it it when one flick is perfect and you just can’t get the other eye to
match! But when I heard that Benefit
came up with a new product, the They’re Real Push-Up Liner, the first ever
lash-hugging gel liner pen, I was excited. And it is a really genius idea that they came
up with, or you could say revolutionary, as there is nothing similar on the
market. It’s basically a pen that you twist at the bottom to dispense product
through a flat tip applicator. It also has included a makeup lesson how to
apply the liner.
Here are my first impressions of "They're
Real" Push-Up Eyeliner by BeneFit, the good and the bad.
The GOOD
Pigment - it’s a very pigmented matte black.
Applicator - The tip is very soft and flexible and
non- irritating. The pointed tip also helps to create makes it easy to do a cat
eye.
Longevity - This is the longest lasting eye-liner
I've ever used; I applied it in the morning, went to work, went to a boxing
class, and at 9 p.m the eyeliner is exactly how it was when I applied it this
morning. Magic wand indeed.
Freshness – As the gel liner is in the pen and
it’s not exposed to air, it won’t dry out quickly as some gel eyeliner in the
pot do. I am looking at you, Bobbi Brown! Ah, is there anything better than a
fresh, smooth gel eyeliner that just glides on your lid like butter? Nope, I
didn’t think so.
Convenience – You don’t need a brush to apply the product
that means handy for hand bags and travels and saves you to wash the brush…
obviously.
The BAD
Wastage – The tip dispenses either too much or too
little product, but it's really hard to get just the right amount. Or maybe is
it just user error?
Application - It applies unevenly on my lids, parts
of my line looked dried out and some other parts lighter. Also when I applied a
second coat, the formula got cakey and started to crumble.
Removal – the downside of using a long-lasting
product is taking it all off in the evening. Benefit developed The Remover,
which is meant to remove both, the They’re Real mascara and Push-Up Liner and
is priced at €19.50. But really you can
also use any oil-based eyemakup remover or just a plain ol' olive oil.
I will be honest and say that there is a bit of a
learning curve in learning to use this eyeliner. You really have to be super
quick as it really dries so quickly, there really is not much room for
mistakes. Also keep in mind that you also have to wipe off the tip before you put
it away so that it doesn't clog up. If you are makeup artist, this one might not
be for you, and that’s just not for the sanitary reasons, I would say an eye
definer brush and pot gel eyeliner do a better and a neater job. I might buy again just for its freshness and convenience
though.
They’re Real Push-Up Liner and Eye Makeup Remover will
be available from 28th June 2014 in Irelands Department stores.
