Spring/Summer 2014 Nail Trends

This spring and summer  2014 is all about bold brights such as rich fuchsia, bright pinks and funky orange.  If  you really want stand out this summer, then nail polish in cobolt blue is the way to go, it certainly looks amazing paired with tan skin and a coral dress! If the electric blue is bit OTT for you then try a nail polish in mint or  light blue, another must have color for this season.  Last but no least,  I also like the white nail trend for a more crisp and polished  look.
Have a look at  some of my favorites for this season.

NAIL TREND AUTUMN/ WINTER 2013/14

Burgundy and Oxford blood red are the trend colors for the season autumn/winter 2013/14 and if you are getting tired of the summer pastels and corals then this is a nice change for your nails. I think both shades are great autumn colors, very expensive and classy looking and they suit all skin tones.
Here are some of my favorite burgundy and dark red OPI nail polishes to try.

Autumn and Winter Favorite -Rimmel Pro in 393 Desire

One of my top favorite nail polishes for this autumn and winter is Rimmel’s Dark Red Shade in 393 Desire.
This nail polish is part of the Rimmel Lycra PRO line, with a large Maxi brush that makes application so easy and streak free.
393 Desire is a stunning shade, very vampy and sultry. It's a very dark black cherry, with plum shimmer infused throughout. It looks like dark brown from afar while up close it looks more like dark plumy red.
It goes on perfectly without streaking and is reasonably long lasting. I always use base coat and then I apply two coats on and finish with top coat.
Available in Boots for a bargain price of € 4.95
What is your favorite nail polish shade for this autumn and winter season?

Summer Favorites:Dior Vernis and Addict Extreme Lipstick in Rivera

I was in love with tangerine and coral colors this summer, and feel quite sad, that the summer is over and now I've a feeling that should turn more to darker and richer berry shades for the autumn and winter. Blah! That's all I can say, not my favorite time of the year. Roll on summer 2013.

My favorite nail polish that came out this spring/summer 2012 is Dior Vernis in 537 Riviera, a lovely hot orange coral shade. It looks fiery, but still very feminine. I definitely wouldn't call it a straight orange or coral, but it does lean more on the orangey side with a slight reddish undertone. I also find that in different lighting, the color looks different too. Two coats and you get rich full coverage and with proper application the nail polish lasts almost a week on my nails.

Rimmel Lycra Pro Nail Polish - 317 Coral Romance

I have serious love for Rimmel nail polishes and generally find them to be of a fairly high standard. Great range of colors, decent staying power, quick drying and easy application, what’s there not to love?

Rimmel Lycra Pro Nail Polish promises 10 days without chipping and I can't vouch for that, but it can stay put for 5 days, with good base and top coat.

The shade 317 Coral Romance is a lovely true coral: Not pink, not orange, not red.

The brush is very wide, but that's not a problem for me really, but if you have small nails I could imagine the brush may be too large.

Available at Boots.

Have you tried the Rimmel Lycra Pro Nail Polish yet? What other colors do you recommend?

summer favorites - MAC Morange and Rimmel Sun Downer

My favorite color of this year is with no doubt tangerine. To me it’s the new black.  I cannot put into words how much I love this color. It  really make me happy, it lifts my mood and it spices up every of my outfits.

Equally, I am in love with the MAC  lipstick in Morange, and herefore I declared it as my favorite lipstick of this summer. MAC Morange is a bright orange- red lipstick, but more orange than red and I always find that this lipstick brightens up my face instantly, no matter how tired and sleep deprived I am, people would always comment how  fresh and rested I look like.

My favorite nail polish of this summer is  the Rimmel 60 seconds nail polish   in 440 Sun Downer. Every time I apply it to my nails, I can’t stop looking at them all day long, it’s that addictive.

What is your favorite lipstick and nail polish at the moment?

Welcome to your own Home Spa

The weekend is ahead, so why don’t you indulge in relaxing spa day in comfort of your home, no need to spent money on expensive salon treatments...
Make a Plan For Your Home Spa Day
The night before your Home Spa day, make sure that your house and especially bathroom is spotless clean.
Pull together some of the things like your robe and slippers, relaxation CDs, candles, clean sheets and towels.
Think about what you would like to do in your home spa day ,  just like you were going to a real spa.

Spa plan suggestions
Facial exfoliation:
Facial Massage
Facial Mask
Manicure and Pedicure
Body Exfoliation
Relaxing Bath
Moisturizing Cream

If you dont have any fancy masks and potions at home, you could try one of these natural pampering remedies:

Facial exfoliation
Sugar Scrub
Mix 1 large spoon sugar with 2 large spoons milk
Mix together and massage onto your wet face.
After two minutes rinse well and slash your face with cold water.

Sea Salt Scrub
To remove dry skin and tighten the pores use sea salt
Gently massage two tablespoons of coarse sea salt onto your wet face,
Just make sure you don’t get anything in your eyes.
After two minutes rinse well and slash your face with cold water.

Facial Mask

No need to buy any expensive moisturizing  masks, when you  can use any of your moisturizes: apply thickly over your face as you usually would  and leave in for about 20 minute while relaxing on your sofa.

 Honey and outmeal mask
cup of any kind of oatmeal
1/4 cup of water
2 teaspoons of honey

Strawberry and Banana Mask
To exfoliate and tighten skins try banana and strawberries.
Mash together banana and few ripe strawberries. Apply to your face and leave for about 15 minutes. Rinse away with clean warm water.

Facial Massage
You can massage you face with Olive Oil or Almond oil.

Manicure and pedicure
As you know hands can reveal your  real  age.... mature hands tend usually to be more dry , just as the rest of your face... so if you want to keep your hands young, make sure that they  well moisturized.

Here is a very simple test that will tell you if your hands are dehydrated:
Gently pinch the skin on the back of your hand and see how long it takes to fall back into place.

If it’s longer than a second, then your skin needs moisture.
Time in seconds:
1-2 ( under 30 years old)     5-9 (45-50 years old)
3-4 (30-44 years old)            10-15(60 years old)

Check out my post here how to have a Manicure and Pedicure at home.

Body Exfoliation
Dry brushing is an excellent and inexpensive way to get rid of dead skin cells and get smooth skin.
See here the post about my favorite body Body Exfoliator.
If you dont have a brush, you could also use sea salt and sugar as mentioned above.

Relaxing Bath
Cleopatra’s Bath
Mix two cups of milk into your bathwater and add few drops of any essential oil
Tipp: Lush makes the best Bath bombs

Moisturizing Cream
Use olive oil mixed with essential oil  your or any body lotion you have mixed with your  favorite perfume.

Plan your meals in advance
The meal plan could look similar like this:
 Breakfast: Fruit smoothie
Snack: Apple and handful almonds
Lunch: Fresh, crisp salad with chicken
Snack: Fresh Blueberries with one large spoon Greek yoghurt and honey
Dinner: Steamed salmon with vegetables
For more ideas, check out my other  posts here.

Don’t forget to drink liters of water or herbal teas.
The most important thing is that you make sure that everything i s arranged the night before to get the best out of your relaxation day.  Also get some  books or magazines you want to read, and make sure your telly is switched off.

So happy pamering ma beauties!

rimmel nail polish french manicure - no need for professional manicure

I absolutely love Rimmel London's products.

This polish is no exception and I have been using it for years.

The inimitable combination of the superior formula with Lycra® technology + Maxi brush innovation guarantees perfect coverage for superior shine & wear. Up to 10 days colour.

 It  really doesnt disappoint.

Castor Oil can give you new feet

Getting my feet ready for the new year...
I am always surprised how much time I spend on pampering  my face and how little attention goes to  my feet !

My SOS for tired, dry, worn out feet is Organic Castor Oil  + plain cotton socks.
You can get Castor oil in Health shops or pharmacies.

How to get started
  • Bath your feet in Epsom Salts with few drops Eucalyptus Oil, that should leave them refreshed.
  • Cut and file the nails.
  • Massage your feet with Castor Oil for about five minutes.
  • Put on thick cotton socks for few hours, but for  best results leave them overnight on and you will wake up with feet like new.
  • Put a nice coat of bright nail polish, I prefer Rimmel  polish 60 Seconds in coralicious And voila, my feet are ready to rock and roll again!

PS: Top Tip for very tired party feet:
Massage your  feet with  VICKs VapoRub, put on cotton socks, go to bed and wake up with refreshed and baby bottom soft feet! No kidding!
