Mature skin lacks collagen
and elastin that gives the plumpness that younger skin has. I don't really like using the
word "mature" because it tends to make
ladies over a certain age feel old and not as beautiful as
they should feel, but it’s only a word after
all! The main thing about skin - at any
age - is to keep the makeup look simple and fresh. For ladies over fifty, in
particular, less is really more. With my tips and tricks you can bring
some of your youthful glow back and be the belle of the ball, no matter what
age you are.
One of my happy clients - can you believe this gorgeous lady is 58! A stunner! |
Exfoliation is the key!
Exfoliating your skin once or twice weekly will encourage
cell renewal, resulting in a smoother and softer appearance of the lines. You
can use a homemade scrub using 1 spoon of olive or almond oil mixed with two spoons of
sugar; apply the mixture to your face and work it in
circular motions for one minute. Rinse it off with your cleanser.
Moisturize, Moisturize and Moisturize again!
Yes, moisture will plum up the skin and will make the
wrinkles and lines less visible. Look for moisturizes with loads of natural
oils, such as rose and rose hip oil in them -
the thicker the moisturizer, the better.
Right foundation from the start!
Use a hydrating primer before applying your foundation, it
will fill in the lines and form a smooth surface for your foundation. Clarins
Flash Balm is a winner! When choosing a foundation choose a sheer water based
foundation, which leaves the skin with a dewy
finish and youthful glow. My favorite foundations
for drier skin are MAC Face & Body and Laura
Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Use a liquid
highlighter to brighten the under eyes area. Try the all-time favourite YSL Touche Eclat.
Skip the Powder!
Or only use it sparingly
with a small fluffy brush where you need to matte down
the shine, e.g.in your T-Zone. Look for powders with illuminating particles
such as NARS Light Feflecting Setting Powder.
Blush Baby!
Peach and brown based pink cream blushes are your best
friend. Apply the blush right on the cheekbone and blend it upwards towards the
eye. It's like mini face lift!
Bring out the eyes!
Tight-line the upper lid with a taupe or dark brown liner to
define the eyes and finish the look with a lick of mascara! Applying few
individual eyelashes in the corner of the eye will give them an instant lift.
You can wear shimmer!
Use eyeshadows in earthy tones with a satin finish or add
little bit of shimmer over a matte eyeshadow, but don't overdo it though. This
will create an illusion of a slightly less wrinkly lid.
Its in the gloss!
Line your lips with a natural tone lip liner and apply a
clear gloss or nude creamy lipstick which will
make your lips appear plumper and give more
definition.
Remember: keep the makeup simple
and fresh and let me tell you another little secret: your smile is
the most inexpensive anti-ageing product you’ll ever
have and is an instant scar free face
lift, so use it often and liberally. You are
beautiful ☺
