"No-Make-up-Look" of the 18th Century

While I was in the cinema last week, the Les Miserables poster caught my attention, or better said it was Anne Hathaway pictured with hardly wearing any makeup.
I  always loved the no-makeup look of the 1800's. Every time I watched the Sense and Sensibility or  Pride and Prejudice or any other movie based on  Jane Austen books, I couldn't stop admiring the simplicity of the milk maid look. In the 18th century, women wore hardly any cosmetics, and the makeup look was minimalistic and completely matte without a grain of sparkle, shine or glitter.

Products used and Step-by-Step application

Eyes
Step 1
Bobbi  Brown Long Wear Cream eye shadow in Bone - apply the cream eyeshadow on the lid with flat eye shadow brush and blend into the skin with your fingers
Step2
MAC eyeshadow in Kid  – apply with a fluffy blending brush  in circular motions into the crease
Step 3
MAC eyeshadow in Haux - apply with a firm blending brush over the previously applied eyeshadow  to give depth and dimension to the crease.
Step 5
Blend the two eyeshadows with a fluffy blending brush together
Step 6
Apply the same eye shadow to the lower lash line with a pencil brush and blend thoroughly.
Step 7
Apply one  coats of plum mascara (Benefit BadGal in  Plum) and if you like you can brush your brows upwards and fill out with eyeshadow.

Face
Base
MAC Body and Face Foundation
Apply matte  concealer (I used the GloMinerals concealer) wherever needed to even out the skin tone
Make Up For Ever Super Matte Powder –  set the base with loose powder using a powder puff
Step 8
MAC Mineralize skinfinish in medium deep – used as bronzer here – apply to the temples, on the cheekbones and just right under the jaw line in a figure of 3.
Step 9
Bobbi Brown Creme Blush in Rose – apply on the apples of the cheeks and blend in to the skin with your fingers.

Lips
Step 10
Bobbi Brown Creme Blush in Rose – apply  to the lips with your fingers and blend  thoroughly,  it should look matte and as there is no color at all on the lips

As I said, it is a minimalist look and very easy to recreate, so I hope you like it as much as I do.
