How to darken red lipstick

Have you ever been on a look-out for that perfect deep red or burgundy lipstick shade and no lipstick in the world could fit the bill? Don’t despair, here is a step-by-step tutorial how to darken red lipstick. All you need is the lipstick that you want to darken, black gel eyeliner or cream eyeshadow, lip brush and a palette (optional).

For this tutorial I’ve used the Makeup Forever Cream Eyeshadow in Black and the MAC Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo.

Step 1
Apply generous amount of the red lipstick and a small amount of black gel eyeliner or cream eye shadow next to each on the other onto a  palette or back of your hand.

Step 2
With a lip pencil start adding the black color to the red lipstick until you have reached the desired shade.  Always remember to start with a small amount of black, because it’s always easier to add more color if necessary then to take away.

 And voila, you have created a perfect deep red shade.  Hope this helps!
