What color is your food?

Scientists are regularly reporting new health benefits associated with fruits and vegetables. Eating more fruits and vegetables is a worthwhile goal. Eating a variety of different colours of fruits and vegetables every day is a new way of thinking about meeting the goal.

Yellow orange and red foods

Bananas, Lemons, Corn
Carrots, Oranges,Squash
Peppers, Pomegranates, Strawberries, Tomatoes

This group contains antioxidants called carotenes. They protect cells and membranes of your body, such as your skin and cell walls and are vital for fighting the effects of ageing and protecting your body against stress, chemicals and the sun, all the causes of the visible signs of ageing. They are also high in Vitamin C, which will protects us from cold and flu.

Green foods
Asparagus, Broccoli, Brussel sprouts
Cabbage, Chives, Leeks, Onions,
Marjoram, Thyme, Basil, Rosemary

Green foods are the warriors against wrinkles and essential parts of your anti-ageing lifestyle. Green foods can actually help you lose weight. They hold back the enzymes in your body that raise your blood sugar and so prevent you from craving unnecessary high sugar and high fat foods. They are packed with nutrients such as selenium which is needed for your metabolism.

Purple and Blue foods

Aubergine, Beetroot, Cherries
Blackberries, Blueberries, Raspberries
Prunes, Grapes, Red apples

Purple and green foods contain a group of antioxidants called flavonoids, which are major player in the anti ageing game.
They are sweet and delicious, and they are great for your circulation, helping to improve the function of your heart, veins and arteries. They are also helpful in preventing and fighting allergies, and are natural antibiotics.

Brown foods

Almonds, Walnuts, Brazil nuts
Beans, Brown mushrooms, Lentils
Brown pasta, Brown rice, Couscous
Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, Poppy seeds

Brown foods are rich in powerful B vitamins, vitamin E, zink and magnesium.
They  are  also rich in  healthy fibre , which will aid your digestion and keep your bowel regular. When your digestion system becomes slugish, your skin will look dull and will lack energy. You will also develop cellulite.
White and pale yellow foods

Butter, Low fat milk, Low fat cheese
Yoghurt, Soya milk, Eggs
Chicken,, Fish, Turkey
Olive oil, coconut oil and milk, Macadamia oil

This group food is high in protein. They are also high in calcium which is essential for strong bones. This group is also contains the essential Omega 3 acids. The signs of Omega 3 deficiency include dry skin and water retention. Eating this foods is also a great way to increase your anti aging Vitamin A intake.

  11. Lovely post, My dad always says eating a rainbow will keep you healthy and I've always grown up eating greens and lots of fresh fruit and veg. Just goes to show he was right all along.

  14. I definitely need to eat better, I would say I like orange and yellow foods :) Def prefer oranges and bananas, lemons in my water too!
