How to have a beautiful hair

Healthy, thick, shiny hair is associated with youth and just like your face, it needs to be looked after.
If your eat healthy and nutritious  food, your hair will reflect this and look glossy and vibrant.
Therefore  it’s important  to eat foods rich in Beta carotene, Essential fatty acids, Vitamins B,C, E and  Minerals such as Iron, Magnesium, Silica, Sulphur and Zink.
So basically many hair problems are linked to what you eat :
o  Oily hair can be sign of Vitamin B deficiency
o  Dry and brittle hair is a sign of that your diet is lacking essential fatty acids
o  Poor hair growth and loss of color are signs of Zinc deficiency
For  how to feed your body and hair properly, check out also my post What color is your food?

Some other  random hair facts:
o  Hair is 97 percent protein; the other 3 per cent is made up of minerals and trace elements
o  Hair usually grows just over a centimeter a month
o  Hair grows more slowly  in cold weather because circulation is more sluggish
o  Each hair follicle grows about 20 hairs in a lifetime
o  Pulling a hair form its follicle stimulates the next hair to grow
o  The lifespan of a hair is between 16 months and seven years

My  tips for beautiful hair:

Try to wash your hair only  every second day. If you feel that your hair get greasy quick,
massage baby powder into the hair roots, the powder will control the oil.
Use very little shampoo focusing  on the scalp area, this will prevent dry ends.
For a good lather, wet your hair first thoroughly.
There is no need to wash your hair twice, once is more than enough,
especially if your hair is dry.

o      Buy the best conditioner you can afford for your hair type.
Use only a small amount of it focusing on the ends, don’t go near your scalp,
otherwise you will end up with limp hair.
Leave the conditioner in for at least 3 minutes
Have at least once a week deep conditioner treatment; I apply heated coconut
or olive oil and leave in it for hours, with my hair wrapped in a hot towel.
( I heat a towel in microwave for one minute)

o     Rinse your hair for the final time with cold water, this will make the hair cuticle
lie flat.Don’t rub your hair, instead wrap it up  in a hair turban and leave it on for
        few minutes.

Use styling products that add shine and texture and that also will protect your hair
         from the heat.
I highly can recommend Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother
         and Aveda Volumizing Tonic.
Don’t use to many products though, otherwise your hair will end up looking
         sticky and dull.
Don’t delay with the hair styling as the moisture in towel-dried hair helps
         styling products work better.

o      Try to keep the heat appliances such as curling and flat  irons  to a minimum
or reserve them only for special occasions since they steam out the moisture
from your hair and will leave it dull and dry.
Buy a good quality hair dryer with at least 2000 watts. My hairdryer hairdryer has 3700 watts
and I have to say the results are fabulous, hair looks like blow dried at the salon.
When blow-drying, point the hairdryer down along the hair shaft, this helps to
flatten the cuticles,  so they will reflect light, making your hair look glossy .

Use only  a tiny amount of hairspray, it would be better not to use any, since it can
really dry out  and coat your hair.
Besides rigid, immovable hair is very ageing. My favourite is L'oreal Paris Elnett Hairspray.

So ladies,  these are my top tips for you and I hope they will  help you to grow your hair longer and more beautiful.
Do you care for your hair as you  do for your face? What are you tips for a beautiful and healthy hair?
